A Protestant Church of the Moravian denomination serving north Calgary

Fellowship/Socials—are big at our church and we try to have events monthly for people to gather and celebrate life.  Watch the bulletin boards at church and the monthly newsletters for upcoming events.  Some upcoming events include an Afternoon Tea/Chat Room event at 1:30pm on Friday, February 19th, 2010 at the church.

Ash Wednesday/Potluck: Prior to the worship service on February 17th, there will be a potluck — come to the church at 6:30pm with your best potluck dish.

Prayer Retreat:  “Pray Without Ceasing” — a weekend living in prayer will be held on February 26th to February 28th at King’s Fold Retreat Centre.  Brochures with registrations are in the pamphlet rack in the foyer of the church — Registration deadline is February 10th, 2010.  Speak with Pastor Rick for more details.

We like to celebrate birthdays at the end of each month at worship service where we ask anyone who has had a birthday to come up to the front of the church, say their name, their day of birth and where they were born — this way we get to know each other.  Instead of getting a present, the birthday people give money to thank God for being born and to give funds to our foster child in India. Here are pictures of the student (the child on the right) we are sponsoring at the Moravian Institute in Rajpur.  The other is his twin brother.  His name is Ashish and his brother is Vishal.  They were born in Shimla, India and have just turned 7 years old.  They have an older sister who is also at the Moravian Institute and a younger brother.  The children and their mother live at their grandparents home as their father is not around.  Their mother is working as a “daily wage laborer” which doesn’t provide for the needs of the children.  We are blessed to be a blessing to this family.
